TRANSPORT TO AND FROM HUA HIN

Take it easy ! When you arrive at the airport in Bangkok, it is quite easy and un-complicated to get to Hua Hin, because there are several different transportation options no matter what time time of the day or week you arrive at the airport..
Bangkok Airport is an airport of international and western standard and it is pretty easy to navigate inside. If you still need help then you just have to contact one the smiling, friendly thais which for sure will give you a helping hand..

pre-book a minivan to be waiting for you in the airport.

The ride from the airport to the city centre of Hua Hin is approximately 250 km and can be done in several different ways. The whole thing depends on what time of day it is, what comfort you prefer, and at last how cheap you want to travel ?

Broadly there are
three ways to travel; by train, bus or with taxi, and we will describe each way separately below..
Bus Bangkok - Hua Hin
Bus from Hua Hin to Bangkok and vice versa..
One of the most popular ways to get from Bangkok to Hua Hin is via the luxury bus, which departs directly from the international airport Subarnabhumi, located some 30 kilometers east of Bangkok city .
It is in this airport that virtually all the major international airlines land their aircrafts. The old airport Don Mueang, is mainly used by local airlines and their domestic flights.
You can always see the airport of arrival on your ticket, either by looking at the airport code, called BKK for Subarnabhumi or DMK Don Mueang. Nearly all the planes that depart from Western Europe (whether it is from Hamburg or Stockholm) Copenhagen) will arrive at the Subarnabhumi airport.

There are luxury buses equipped with air conditioning as well as comfortable leather seats, so it is a rather pleasant way to travel.

Please be aware that the buses depart about every second hour during the period 07:30 am to 19:30 evening.
That means, in order to use this bus service your plane should arrive within this period. If your plane arrives at night in Bangkok, you are therefore obliged to either choose the train, taxi or minibus to get to Hua Hin.

(Note, if you want to get of the bus in the town of Cha-am located to the north of Hua Hin, the bus stops there too. Specifically in front of Bangkok Bank)
Price: Approximately 9 USD or 8 Euro per person.
Departure: Airport, Level 1 Gate no. 8 (booking desk)
Rejsetid: 3-4 hours
Pros: It is quite cheap and comfortable and you might fell kind of secure among other tourists traveling to Hua Hin.
Cons: Does not arrive right at the door step of your hotel. Departure from the airport is only possible at day or early evening.

Hua Hin arrival points:
1. By the luxury hotel resort Dusit Thani, located central Hua Hin.
2. In the outskirts of the city at the Hua Hin bus station between Soi 96 og 98.

Train from Bangkok to Hua Hin
Travelling by train can be both inexpensive and eventful transport option for those who would like to see a little more of the Thai countryside. At least if you want to experience a little more than if you choose to make the trip by Taxi / Minibus or via bus. For that reason this unique experience is chosen by quite some tourists visiting Hua Hin. Mainly for the sake of the experience, rather than the convenience herein.

The National Railway of Thailand goes all the way from the capital Bangkok down to the provinces in the south and thus also through Hua Hin.
The train will halt at the
small railway station directly in Hua Hin city, where it is very easy to move on to your hotel with taxi or Tuk Tuk, wherever it may be located in Hua Hin.

Price: From 2-12 USD / 1,5-11EURO per person. Children 0-3 years free. Children 4-11 years half price.

Departure: The train departs from Hua Lamphong Station in central Bangkok. Arriving at the railway station in Hua Hin City.

Travel time: 3,5 to 5 hours

Advantage: It's cheap, you experience the Thai countryside. You get close to the locals.

Disadvantage: It takes more time than other transportation options and there is no aircon on the lower classes.

Tip: Take the train for the sake of the experience, but do not do it, if you have a tight schedule or a plane you have to reach..
